    Analysis of export instability and export promotion policies in Zimbabwe, 1900-1987

    The problem which export instability posses to any primary producing developing countries has been the subject of much discussion and empirical investigation. The core of this problem has been the view that developing countries' export sector Characteristically unstable and it is this instability which retards their process of development. In a nutshell, export!' instability can arise from a combination of supply and/or demand . movements, but the primary nature of production and exports" has been identified as the most important (Lloyd and Procter,1983; Davies and Tironi,1982).
